From its name itself, research institutes provide basic or applied research services to a specific field. Usually, these research institutes are spearheaded by business schools for a comprehensive sharing of pertinent information.
On the other hand, management science uses mathematical and analytical methods to come up with better management decisions. Known in the United States as Operations Research while in the United Kingdom it is called Operational Research, these three terms are usually used interchangeably to mean the same thing.
