Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution started in England and spurred the fantastic growth of world trade and economy. Many development during the Industrial Revolution shaped the history of the world such as the birth of capitalism, its anti-thesis which is communism, worldwide labour movements, the exploitation of vast natural resources and the reduction of the working class into mere inputs of production. What started as a revolution in the invention of labour-saving machines and devices soon spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Major changes in agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, and the sciences drove significant changes in society and cultural patterns. That period can be considered as “annus mirabilis”, or extraordinary year.
