Highways and roads — these two terms may share the same characteristics but both have literally different meaning and implication. A road is a path, a way or a route that connects two separated or distant places. These are mostly designed to allow people to experience an easy travel. The term road was originally used to describe simply any pathway intended for riding. Later on the road was consequently called a street which is derived from the Latin word strata.

It is where the central transport moves about from the major cities. Highways are named in various terms according to the degree of its transport facility movement. In some large cities, highways are often referred to as superhighway, freeway, auto route, parkway, autostrasse, byway, expressway, autostrada and motorway.
