Currency
Currency (e.g. coins and paper money) is a medium of exchange that is used to facilitate the transfer of goods or services in a certain country. Each country has it own currency or money for public circulation, and almost all countries – with the exception of the member countries of the European Union (EU) – have exclusive control over the production and supply of their own currency. This control is exercised through a monetary authority, which can either be a central bank or a finance ministry, whose primary responsibility is to control finance and maintain the stability of national currency and the supply of money.
